These Signs are the Power of God
As I go in the name of the Lord, I have expectation that His word will manifest in many lives. I don’t know what miracles will take place, but miracles must take place. When we go in Jesus’ name signs and wonders do follow. It is like a simple algebra function:
a + b = c.
Preaching the Gospel in the nations, plus our action of faith will always equal miracles, signs, and wonders. This is the imperative of the gospel. It is an absolute statement of fact. It is like H2O. If you have two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, you will always get water. You will always get miracles when you go in the name of the Lord.
Mark 16:15-18 says, “God into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the ick, and they will recover.”
When you understand the power of God and that truth is truth with Him you begin to look at the word of God differently. You don’t question the word. You just know that it is written there to be found, to be believed and to see results when we step into it. When you begin to look at the bible as the revelation of Jesus and that certain things are given in order to attest to that revelation miracles become easier.
I don’t try to define what miracle will look like in advance. In truth I am always surprised when I see a miracle take place. I get so excited with miracles. I see them as the hand of God revealing the truth that Jesus is Lord. He does what He says He will do.
In this way I have had miracles like you see throughout the bible. I have seen the name of Jesus spoke and demons cringe and flee. I have seen many delivered from witchcraft, and false religion. I remember one time in Africa there was a young man wrestling with a demon. The Lord showed me that when he was a young boy His grandma brought him to the witchdoctor who fed him a chum (A potion made of different ingredients given to cause certain spiritual forces to work in his life). Instead of helping him this chum caused a bondage over his mind and a demon came to rest inside of him.
I told him what I saw, and he was shocked. His pastor came to me later telling me the boy gave his heart to Jesus because there was no way I should have known these details about his life. In fact, until that moment I didn’t even know that witchdoctors did such things. God set the boy free, and he is still serving the Lord to this day. That is a sign and wonder.
There are some miracles that take place that seem strange to people. Throughout history there were many such miracles. I remember reading some of the Eucharist miracles that took place in Europe within the Catholic church. To the mind of the Catholic their faith is exercised in such a way that the bread and wine of the Eucharist becomes the body and blood of Christ when partaken. I am not here to question this believe but only wish to share a story about a powerful miracle.
There was a woman in Europe about 200 years ago who wanted to desecrate the sacrament, so once she went to a church and got herself a piece of the bread that was used in the Eucharist. She took it home and she thought to herself I am going to cook this bread. She fired up a frying pan and put oil in the pan. When it was hot, she threw the bread into it. The story goes that blood came out of the bread and filled up the pan and then it ran out of the pan, down the stove and out through her door. The woman was so shocked and awed that she repented and came to Christ.
I know that this is hard for some to believe, but most miracles are hard to believe. You must accept them by faith. God has miracles that will come when the gospel is preached. Miracles are like weapons that destroy unbelief and produce faith. This is why it is important to preach the gospel because signs and wonders follow the word. It is because Jesus died on the cross so that we might have a sacrifice for our sins. You and I are sinners in a fallen world. No matter how hard we try we can’t set ourselves free we can only try to justify our sin. Many a man will blame his sin on the way he was born rather than deal with God. But God sent Jesus so that we would not have to stay in the old nature but that we could become new. As long as we live we will experience transformation. The presence of Jesus will transform our minds daily, but we have this hope that as Jesus is we will be.
This is the essence of the gospel. When Moses went to Pharaoh it wasn’t by his own strength that the Israelites were set free, but it was by the power of God that came through miracles. It is the same today.
Trust God and preach and watch heaven collide into earth. Watch lives get transformed as they experienced the power of God and His signs and wonders.
